Edit Intern - Winter/Spring 2027

Who are we?

MATTE is a 360° full-service creative studio at the convergence of hype, storytelling and design. We bring people together to inspire new ways of engaging, to provoke long term progress, and to entertain audiences around the world, while helping forward-thinking brands and institutions nimbly and truly do the same. Our studio capabilities range from strategic ideation and insights, creative development, branding and identity, experiential, web design and development, campaigns and content creation, all the way through full-scale production and execution.

About this role: 

MATTE is looking for an Editing Intern with a strong sense of pacing, storytelling, and what makes a social edit work. You’ll help turn raw footage into short-form content, working alongside our post-production leads and creatives from initial cuts through final delivery. You’ll also explore how AI tools can improve the editing process, from organizing footage to building more efficient workflows.

• Edit short-form social content and cutdowns for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and YouTube, with guidance from post-production leads and creatives.
• Support the editing process from footage review and initial assembly through revisions, versioning, and final exports.
• Help build and refine AI-assisted workflows for transcription, rough-cut assembly, captioning, and asset organization.
• Maintain organized project files, consistent naming conventions, and platform-specific export settings.
• Participate in creative reviews and learn how feedback shapes pacing, storytelling, and final edits.

• Hands-on experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, with a reel or samples of short-form edits. School and personal projects are welcome.
• An eye for pacing, sound, and visual storytelling, with an interest in social content.
• Strong working knowledge of Claude and other AI tools, particularly for organizing tasks and improving workflows.
• Strong attention to detail and an organized approach to project files, revisions, and delivery.
• A proactive, collaborative approach and a willingness to experiment, ask questions, and learn from feedback.

• Basic motion graphics skills or familiarity with Adobe After Effects.
• Experience using scripting or structured prompts to build repeatable AI-assisted workflows.

Program Details & Requirements:

• Must be enrolled in a university undergraduate or master’s program.
• Must be available for a minimum of 16 hours per week, working two days on-site at our New York City offices.
• Must be available for the full program, from February 3 through May 12, 2027. All internships begin February 3, 2027.

This is an unpaid internship that may qualify for academic credit. Interns are not eligible for employee benefits.
