The Role

Neural Concept is looking for an HR Operations Specialist to own and build U.S. HR operations for our growing tech scale-up. Neural Concept has 160 employees worldwide and raised $100 million at the end of 2025.

We are around 20 people in the U.S. today and may reach 100 or more within four years. You will run U.S. HR admin end to end, from payroll to benefits, and shape the strategy that gets us there, including when to stay on a PEO and when to move to direct administration.

This is not an execution-only role. We are looking for someone solid on the fundamentals who takes initiative and proposes solutions.

About 20% of your time will go to office management, shaping how our office runs and how people experience it day to day. You will also work closely with colleagues across our international organization, where the U.S. is one part of a global business.

Key responsibilities

U.S. HR operations (core of the role, ~80%)

  • Own U.S. HR admin end to end: onboarding, employee changes, offboarding, payroll and HR records.

  • Run U.S. benefits administration, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability and 401(k) programs.

  • Manage the relationship with our PEO, payroll and benefits providers, and hold them to account.

  • Build the U.S. HR roadmap for growth from ~20 to 100+ people: what to put in place now, and when to move from a PEO to direct administration (likely around 80 people).

  • Maintain HR policies and ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment requirements.

Office management (~20%)

  • Run day-to-day office operations: facilities, supplies, vendors and building management.

  • Coordinate onsite logistics such as visitors, meetings and team events.

  • Make the office a welcoming, well-run place where people want to come in.

Cross-functional HR projects (growing over time)

  • Contribute to global HR topics beyond the U.S. scope, such as learning and development.

  • Over time, take ownership of one transversal HR area as the team grows and specializes.

What we are looking for

Must-haves

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in U.S. HR operations or People Operations, ideally in a startup or scale-up.

  • Strong practical knowledge of U.S. payroll, benefits administration, 401(k) programs and HR compliance.

  • Experience working with a PEO; experience evaluating or transitioning away from one is a strong plus.

  • A proactive, strategic mindset: you bring proposals and a point of view, not just execution.

  • Solid, steady and reliable on admin, with close attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure to HR topics outside the U.S., or experience working in an international company.

  • Ability to adapt to different HR approaches and ways of working.

  • Appetite for a transversal HR area, such as learning and development.

What success looks like
  • First 6 months: U.S. HR admin runs smoothly and accurately, from payroll and benefits to 401(k), with a clear handle on our PEO.

  • First year: a U.S. HR roadmap for our growth to 100+ people is agreed, including a PEO vs. direct administration plan.

  • Over time: you contribute to at least one global HR topic beyond the U.S.

What we offer
  • A role with real ownership: you build U.S. HR operations, not just run them.

  • Room to take on broader global HR topics as the company grows.

  • Work with a world-class technology team – our engineers are top-notch.

  • A collaborative, multicultural environment where your work is visible and recognized.

  • Talented colleagues who share knowledge freely and support one another.

  • A hybrid model and flexible hours – we care about results, not rigid schedules.

  • Compensation range: [$X to $Y], depending on experience, qualifications and location.

Neural Concept is an equal opportunity employer. We consider qualified applicants without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected status.

We're proud to be an equal opportunity employer, and we're committed to building a diverse and inclusive environment where you can thrive.
