About the Role
Help transform mental healthcare for millions of kids nationwide as Marble's next product engineer. Marble is building the new operating system for youth mental health — a platform that connects schools, therapists, health plans, and families on a single system, unlocking access to care today and raising the standard of care for tomorrow on top of AI. We're looking for someone to help us scale life-changing care from thousands of families to tens of thousands over the next few years.

This is a high-ownership, high-impact role for someone who wants to own truly life-changing products end-to-end. You'll partner directly with product, operations, growth, and clinical teams to ship experiences that expand access to care and elevate its quality in genuinely new ways. As an early member of the engineering team, you'll also be responsible for defining what great looks like — raising the bar across internal tooling, team processes, and an increasingly AI-native product and developer experience.

What You'll Do
Shape the products that deliver life-changing care to millions of families
  • Build and iterate on all of Marble's core product surfaces:
    • The school-facing product that gets kids connected to care and lets counselors, teachers, and other school staff engage with and collaborate on that care
    • The therapist platform — not just a tool to manage clients, but an AI-powered platform that makes therapists more efficient and more effective through coaching, feedback, and clinical resources
    • Marty, our AI-powered patient companion that meets kids where they are in the crucial time between sessions — not an AI therapist in a silo, but an extension of actual therapy
    • The payer platform and systems that ensure we get paid for the care we provide, today generating millions in revenue and soon tens of millions
    • The internal systems that glue everything together
  • Own features end-to-end: discovery, execution, rollout, measurement, and iteration
  • Bring strong opinions (loosely held) on what we should build, not just how

Build leverage through systems, tooling, and AI
  • Raise the bar on an AI-native way of working: better tooling, better workflows, and thoughtfully integrated AI features for users and internal teams
  • Evolve the platform that underpins our product: modern web architecture, event-driven workflows, observability, and pragmatic infrastructure
  • Create internal tools and automation that reduce operational load and help the team move faster with fewer mistakes

Raise the engineering bar
  • Write clean, maintainable code, improve patterns, and push for simplicity and speed
  • Mentor others and help build a strong, thoughtful engineering culture

Be a cross-functional partner
  • Collaborate deeply with ops, growth, and clinical partners to understand real-world constraints and translate them into great product
  • Use data and user feedback to prioritize, make tradeoffs, and drive outcomes

Qualifications
Requirements
  • 3+ years of software engineering experience
  • Proficient with a modern stack (Node.js or Python, plus React) with a track record of shipping full-stack web applications
  • Prior startup experience, Series C or earlier
  • NYC-based and able to work from our SoHo office 3+ days/week
  • Strong, demonstrated proficiency using AI tools to increase velocity and quality in day-to-day engineering work
  • Desire to work hard in a high-autonomy, high-ownership environment
Bonus
  • Prior experience in healthtech
  • Experience with Next.js
  • Experience with platform infrastructure (event-driven systems, internal tooling, data pipelines) and/or cloud infrastructure (AWS, CI/CD, IaC like Terraform)
  • Experience with design systems, accessibility, or frontend performance optimization

Marble Must Have Traits
🏃 Relentless Drive
  • You’re the hardest worker in the room who takes full responsibility for outcomes and tackles any task, no matter how small.
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Introspective Team Player
  • You invest in relationships and team morale while actively seeking feedback and self-evaluating to continuously improve.
🧭 Operationally Excellent
  • You communicate clearly, think logically, and execute efficiently & effectively.

Role Traits
🔮 Psychic - Product Sense
  • You deeply understand user needs, behaviors, and pain points. You're obsessed with how people actually use the product, fluent in the feedback and the data, and have an intuitive sense of what will resonate. You shape what gets built, not just how it gets built.
🚑 First Responder - Urgency & Ownership
  • You see what needs doing and do it. You run toward fires, not away from them. You move fast, own outcomes end-to-end, and don't wait for permission, consensus, or perfect information to act.
🕵️ Detective - Problem Solving
  • You love getting in the weeds and figuring hard things out. You meticulously gather evidence, connect seemingly unrelated data points, and distinguish signal from noise to uncover what others miss. miss.
📈 Bar Raiser - Excellence
  • You hold yourself to a standard higher than anyone would set for you. You're always looking for ways to do more, move faster, and ship better — then you expect the same from the team, not through pressure but through example and feedback.
🤖 AI Obsessed - AI Expertise
  • You stay at the cutting edge of AI. You love playing with the latest models, tools, and patterns — and you bring what works back to the team. You're obsessed with finding new leverage, and you share what's working, teach the team, and make everyone around you more effective.
