About 9fin

9fin is the AI platform powering global debt markets — the world’s largest asset class at over $145 trillion.

Debt markets are vast, global, and mission-critical, yet still run on fragmented data, PDFs, and manual workflows. 9fin replaces this broken infrastructure with a single platform that centralises proprietary credit data, deep analysis, and high-value workflows across global markets.

Today, 9fin powers teams at 300+ blue-chip institutions worldwide, including global banks, asset managers, private equity firms, law firms, and advisors. The business is scaling at exceptional speed, with rapid expansion in the US and best-in-class retention driven by deep workflow adoption.

We’re at a defining inflection point. With proven product-market fit and strong, global market pull, 9fin is accelerating toward becoming the category-defining platform for debt markets worldwide.

About the Role

We're looking for a Sales Director to lead our buy side sales organization in the US. The buy side is the heart of our client base: hedge funds, asset managers, private credit and direct lending funds, CLO managers, insurers and other institutional credit investors, all of whom depend on fast, accurate credit intelligence to find and manage opportunities. New business, retention and expansion across this segment drive growth in our largest and fastest-growing market, from larger Tier 1 accounts to the broad base of Tier 2 and Tier 3 clients.

This is a new-business leadership role. You'll manage a team of 6 Account Executives who win new buy side clients. A separate AM Director manages the Account Managers who own books of existing buy side clients, and you'll partner closely with them on handovers, renewals and expansion. You'll own new business for the segment, build a repeatable operating rhythm across a mix of account sizes, and grow a team within our newly tiered sales organization.

This is a hands-on leadership role reporting to the CRO. You'll combine coaching with disciplined pipeline and forecast management, and you'll be accountable for how your team performs against its number.

This role requires 3 days in our NYC office.

What you'll work on

Every day is different, but here's an example of the kind of things you'll work on:

  • Lead the US buy side Account Executive team to consistent, forecastable new business delivery quarter over quarter.

  • Own new business and expansion for the segment, and work with the AM Director so every account has a renewal plan well ahead of its date.

  • Coach and manage the Account Executives through weekly pipeline and forecast reviews, and partner with the AM Director on the Account Manager team.

  • Set coverage models and account prioritization across hedge funds, asset managers, private credit and insurance clients, and across Tiers 1, 2 and 3, so your team spends its time where the revenue and risk are.

  • Run a clear operating cadence across the segment, including book and territory planning, account plans, handovers from Account Executives to Account Managers and a shared methodology.

  • Recruit, onboard and develop the team, including training on demos, qualification and forecasting methodology, usage analysis and client reviews.

  • Manage performance through structured reviews, goal setting and development plans.

  • Partner with Customer Success, Sales Engineering, Enablement, Rev Ops, Marketing and Product to remove barriers to growth and bring buy side client feedback into the roadmap.

  • Work with the Head of Sales and the EMEA and APAC sales leadership teams to keep handovers, tiering and territories consistent globally.

  • Keep accurate CRM records and forecasts, and use the data to coach and make decisions.

About You

This role will be a great fit if you:

  • Have 5+ years of experience leading sales teams, ideally selling to the buy side in capital markets, fintech or data and SaaS.

  • Have a track record of delivering new business across a mixed book of accounts, from large Tier 1 clients to high-volume smaller ones.

  • Have led Account Executives and can work with an AM Director to run a clean handover between new business and account management.

  • Are comfortable owning a team number and can show how you've consistently hit it.

  • Are a proactive coach, not a reactive manager. You share process, help your team plan ahead and don't wait for forecasts to slip.

  • Have run a disciplined cadence of pipeline reviews, forecasting and account planning.

  • Can coach reps through procurement, legal review and senior stakeholder conversations on larger Tier 1 accounts.

  • Have a good knowledge of credit and financial markets and the ability to build relationships with portfolio managers, analysts and traders at hedge funds, asset managers and private credit firms.

  • Are comfortable with CRM tools (Salesforce preferred) and use data to drive decisions.

  • Build trust across a matrixed commercial organization and partner effectively with Customer Success, Sales Engineering, Enablement, Rev Ops and Product.

  • Thrive in ambitious, fast-moving environments where expectations are high, opportunities are abundant, and no two days look the same.
