You'll define Filigran's editorial voice, build our thought leadership engine, and grow an owned audience that the cybersecurity industry pays attention to. You will develop an authentic brand narrative and write content that surprises and engages our audience.
You'll have a front-row seat to one of the most dynamic spaces in open-source cybersecurity, and your job is to turn that vantage point into stories that change how practitioners, security leaders, and the broader market think about threat intelligence, adversary simulation, and proactive cyber defense.
You report directly to the Brand & Communications Director.

Build and run Filigran's thought leadership by identify the angles that cut through, the ideas worth amplifying, and the narratives that earn attention.
Own and evolve Filigran's editorial calendar, ensuring consistent, purposeful output aligned with brand positioning, product roadmap, and go-to-market priorities.
Assess existing content and explore how to refine them for different audiences and channels, exploring the creation of checklists, blogs, infographics, guides, cheat sheets, videos, etc.
Uncover stories that get Filigran's perspective into industry media, working hand in hand with our PR team for earned coverage.
Work closely with the Brand & Communications Director, Community Experience Manager, Product, Go-to-Market Teams, and Leadership to surface the ideas worth saying and shape how we say them.
Write content with a distinctive voice across formats: long-form blog posts, thought leadership articles, white papers, executive bylines, product narratives, case studies, press materials, and newsletters.
Leverage AI for efficiency and optimizing workflows, not as a crutch for writing compelling content
Own Filigran’s blog and its editorial content, coordinating across technical and marketing teams to orchestrate narratives that will raise LLM visibility.
Write across registers, from a technical deep-dive for a SOC analyst to an executive op-ed to a punchy LinkedIn post that makes people stop scrolling.
Edit and sharpen content from internal contributors (executives, product experts, engineers), preserving their voice while elevating clarity, structure, and impact.
Uphold and maintain Filigran's brand style guide and editorial standards: no FUD, no fluff, no jargon for jargon's sake.
Proofread and QA content before it goes out. You are the last line of defense for quality.
Use social media as part of your toolkit primarily as a vehicle to distribute and amplify the content you create, keep Filigran's voice active and consistent across channels, and build engagement.
Track and report how content performs on social media; iterate based on what works; grow reach and engagement with the right audiences meaningfully.
Stay current on platform dynamics without chasing every trend.
An SEO content production role. We're not trying to rank for "what is threat intelligence." However, close collaboration with the website manager is essential.
Generic cybersecurity content. No "5 Tips for Better Threat Detection" listicles.
Demand gen support. You're not writing landing page copy or campaign emails, though your content will absolutely generate demand.
Community management. That's your colleague's lane. The Community Experience Manager owns that relationship.
A social media manager role, although you will use it to lead with curiosity and infuse opinions with understanding.
You've worked in or closely with security practitioners and leaders. You understand cybersecurity concepts and you're a fast, voracious learner.
5+ years of experience in writing/editing, content strategy, editorial, or content marketing.
You've built an audience before. Maybe it's a newsletter with real engaged readers. Maybe you were the person behind a brand's content that people actually talked about. Maybe you have a LinkedIn presence that gets genuine engagement, not just likes from colleagues. The proof is in the work.
You have strong opinions about cybersecurity, open source, or the practitioner experience, and you can back them up with reasoning, not just vibes.
You write with a distinctive voice. Your work doesn't sound like it was written by a committee (or a chatbot). It sounds like a person who genuinely cares about the outcome.
You think in distribution, not just production. You know that a great piece of content nobody sees is just a diary entry.
You squeeze the juice out of every piece of content, repurposing and adapting for different channels and distinct audiences.
You have a hunger for data-driven insights to discover what content resonates with your audience.
Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy in a remote-first, async-friendly environment.
Experience developing or maintaining brand and editorial style guides
Comfort with content tooling: Notion, HubSpot, Buffer/Hootsuite, or similar
Reports to: Brand & Communications Director
Key collaborators: Marketing, Product, Sales, and Leadership
