Senior Product Analyst, PowerFAIDS 

College Board – Higher Ed Membership and Access (HMA) 

  • This is a remote role. Candidates who live near CB offices have the option of being fully remote or hybrid (Tuesday and Wednesday in office). All CB employees are required to occasionally travel to meet in person for business purposes.

About the Team  

The Financial Aid Programs and Services team at College Board is a close knit, dedicated team of 27 people with a passion for higher education. The team is committed to providing exceptional tools and customer support to facilitate awarding over $10 billion in financial aid each year. In this position, you will work within a team of 5 responsible for PowerFAIDS product management.  

  

About the Opportunity   

The senior product analyst plays a key supporting role within the PowerFAIDS product team, working closely with product leads and cross-functional teams to advance product development and delivery. This role serves as a critical thought partner to the product leads who manage development teams, supporting requirements research, backlog preparation, user story writing, testing, and internal documentation. Due to the depth of subject matter expertise required to successfully complete the functions of this role, previous experience with PowerFAIDS is required and essential.

 

This role is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented analyst who enjoys connecting user needs with technical solutions and ensuring that products meet business and user expectations. The senior product analyst will also act as a backup for product leaders, helping maintain continuity of work in development teams when needed. 

  

In this role, you will:  

 

System and Process Documentation (40%) 

  • Lead efforts to document existing system functionality, workflows, and business rules.  

  • Create and maintain comprehensive internal documentation for both existing and new features, including process maps, data flows, and configuration details.  

  • Collaborate with product leads, engineers, and subject matter experts to ensure documentation is accurate, up to date, and aligned with product releases.  

  • Serve as the central point of reference for product documentation, ensuring that institutional knowledge is captured and accessible across teams.  

 

User Story and Backlog Support (30%) 

  • Draft high-quality user stories and acceptance criteria based on product requirements and stakeholder input.  

  • Support product leads in preparing and maintaining organized, prioritized backlogs.  

  • Participate in backlog refinement and sprint planning meetings to provide context, clarify requirements, and ensure alignment.  

  • Track story progress and collaborate with teams to ensure completion and accuracy.  

 

Testing and Quality Assurance (15%) 

  • Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for product releases to validate functionality and user experience.  

  • Document test cases, report issues, and follow up on defect resolution.  

  • Partner with QA and product leads to ensure high-quality product delivery.  

 

Cross-Team Collaboration and Backup Support (15%) 

  • Serve as a backup for product leads, ensuring continuity during absences or high-volume periods.  

  • Take detailed notes during customer meetings, feedback sessions, and demonstrations, and synthesize insights to inform product requirements and priorities.  

 

 About You  

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required  

  • 4-6 years of experience and a track record of success in a combination of financial  aid administration, in depth knowledge of Title IV regulations, Financial Aid Management System implementation, customization, configuration or testing, and PowerFAIDS experience (required).  

  • Ability to perform Title IV research and interpret the results to implement policy using resources such the Federal Student Aid Handbook, Dear Colleague Letters, etc.  

  • Experience designing and documenting processes in the form of flow charts or procedure documents.  

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.  

  • Demonstrated skills in writing, editing, and grammar.  

  • Ability to complete complex tasks on short deadlines and in a fast-past environment. 

  • Not required but a differentiator: Experience reading/writing SQL, basic understanding of how APIs work, and knowledge of how database joins impact report writing.

About Our Process

  • The hiring range for this role is $56,000 - $95,000 

  • Your exact salary will depend on your location, experience, and how your background compares to others in similar roles at the College Board.
