Make Your Mark:

The Senior Director, Strategic Solution Advisory is a high-impact leadership role responsible for scaling BlackLine’s solution consulting excellence and architecting the Go-to-Market (GTM) strategy for our new Forward-Deployed Advisory practice. Operating at the intersection of enterprise sales, modern accounting transformation, and product innovation, you will lead an elite team of Solution Advisors embedded in top-tier strategic pursuits, guiding CAOs, CIOs, and Controllers through consultative discovery, target-state solution architecture, and tangible automation roadmaps. By bridging boardroom strategy with hands-on technical validation and institutionalizing consultative best practices across our global GTM engine, you will elevate BlackLine’s sales motion, compress complex enterprise deal cycles, and ensure long-term customer value realization.

You'll Get To:

Build & Operationalize Forward-Deployed Advisory GTM: Architect, pilot, and scale a new Forward-Deployed Advisory practice within our GTM engine. Embed senior advisory strategists directly into Tier-1 strategic pursuits and high-complexity digital transformations, accelerating time-to-decision through hands-on technical validation, tailored proofs-of-concept, and deep architectural alignment.

Lead & Mentor an Elite Advisory Team: Direct and mentor a team of senior Solution Advisors, fostering a culture of consultative rigor, domain excellence in modern accounting, and continuous professional growth across enterprise pursuits.

Partner with the C-Suite on Flagship Deals: Act as the premier solution sponsor and trusted technical advisor on multi-million-dollar, board-visible transformations, establishing deep technical and operational credibility with Chief Accounting Officers (CAOs), Chief Information Officers (CIOs), Controllers, and CFOs.

Institutionalize Rigorous Discovery & Solution Architecture: Establish and enforce global standards for consultative discovery, ensuring solution architectures are rooted in customer operational pain points, complex ERP/financial ecosystems, and tangible end-state workflows rather than off-the-shelf feature sets.

Democratize Solution Best Practices Across GTM: Partner closely with Sales Leadership and Enablement to elevate solution-selling competencies across the broader GTM organization. Design repeatable "art-of-the-possible" demonstration assets, executive-level narrative scripts, and rapid-deployment solution plays that compress enterprise sales cycles.

Translate Next-Gen AI & Automation into Operational Reality: Demystify predictive automation, AI workflows, and modern integration paradigms, articulating how BlackLine’s innovation roadmap simplifies complex accounting challenges, ensures controls compliance, and future-proofs the finance tech stack.

Unify the Pre-to-Post Sales Solution Continuum: Collaborate closely with Product Development to channel market requirements from strategic accounts into the product roadmap, and partner with Customer Success and Professional Services to ensure seamless solution design handoffs for rapid time-to-value.

What You'll Bring:

Academic & Professional Credentials: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, or a related field is required. An advanced degree (MBA/MS) or professional certifications (CPA, CMA, or relevant ERP/cloud certifications) are highly preferred.

 • Proven Solution Advisory Leadership: A minimum of 10 to 12+ years of progressive experience in enterprise SaaS Solution Consulting, Pre-Sales, or Strategic Solution Architecture, with a verifiable track record of managing and mentoring high-caliber advisory teams in complex B2B environments.
• Domain Depth in Finance, Accounting, or ERP Architectures: Deep expertise in the Office of the CFO/CAO, with solid command of core accounting processes (Record-to-Report, Financial Close, Intercompany, Cash Application) and their interplay with enterprise ERP landscapes (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday).
• Forward-Deployed & Strategic Program Incubation: Demonstrated experience developing, piloting, or scaling specialized pre-sales or forward-deployed consulting models that embed advisory resources into strategic accounts to drive outsized expansion and retention.
• Executive Presence & Consultative Acumen: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with proven ability to command boardrooms, navigate multi-stakeholder consensus cycles, and articulate technical architecture in terms of operational impact.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration & GTM Alignment: Demonstrated success partnering closely with Enterprise Sales VPs, Value Advisory, Product Management, and Professional Services to drive cohesive execution across the entire customer lifecycle.
