Things are heating up in NYC this April. Decades-old daily heat records were broken as Central Park peaked at 90 degrees earlier in the month. Aside from the weather, NYC’s tech scene is feeling hot. 

Last month, the city’s five biggest funding rounds totaled $580 million, according to Built In NYC. With companies like Clear Street and AlphaSense securing $270 million and $100 million, respectively, April is shaping up to be another noteworthy month for NYC’s tech industry. 

These companies and seven others are deserving of their moment in the spotlight this month, and Built In NYC delved into their passionate teams — and the perks, benefits and company cultures that support employees as they innovate, overcome challenges and celebrate collective successes.

What Amplify does: EdTech company Amplify fuels next-generation curriculum and formative assessment in K-12 education.

New funding: On April 11, AlphaSense announced an additional $100 million in funding to its $225 million Series D financing round. “We’re honored to partner with CapitalG through this financing and to be recognized for our leadership in AI-driven search capabilities for the business world,” said CEO and Founder Jack Kokko in a statement. 

 

 

 

What Clear Street does: Fintech company Clear Street’s cloud-native prime brokerage platform aims to improve access to capital markets.

New funding: On April 11, Clear Street announced a $270 million investment from Prysm Capital. “Our team has made incredible strides since our inception in 2018, and this additional funding is further testament to the value that we bring to our clients,” said Co-Founder and CEO Chris Pento in a statement.
