We are looking for Senior Software Engineers to work across our engineering teams to build web applications and backend systems that perform at scale. The ideal candidate is adept at writing robust, extensible, and efficient code and has a knack for solving complex problems with simple solutions. Our stack consists primarily of Python and Golang on the backend and React on the frontend. We see technology as a means to solving problems and getting things done and thus prioritize talent over existing skill set. We use Google Cloud hosted infrastructure services including Google App Engine, Kubernetes, BigQuery, and Cloud SQL. Our culture emphasizes making good tradeoffs, working as a team, and leaving your ego at the door.
Develop, release and run large-scale web applications.
Develop and define the backend architecture and tech stack for a product area.
Improve performance, reliability, scalability and security for our backend systems.
Be involved in transitioning our monolithic codebase to a microservice-based architecture.
Completely disrupt logistics by tackling bleeding-edge, technical problems.
Are you energized by leading world-class software engineers while remaining hands-on with coding and technical architecture? As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a software engineering team in building products while maintaining a high quality bar with scalable and reusable technology. You will be mentoring, coaching and inspiring software engineers on the team to take on new technical challenges and grow their careers. You will lead the team in looking at problems in new ways and inventing simple solutions to complex problems.

You are a full-stack SOA engineer / generalist. Experience and (just as important) interest in working in a variety of layers and technologies within a SOA is a must for our team. This includes (walking down the stack): AngularJS SPA development, MVC-based web architecture, external RESTful APIs, distributed (and in our case, highly scaled) request handling services, no-SQL and relational SQL databases, big data processing (e.g. data bus architecture, Hadoop / MPP data warehouse, etc.), and data visualization (e.g. Tableau). Experience in all these layers is not strictly required, but we do like to see experience working in more than one, as well as eagerness to work on projects that might slice through them all (because they often will).
Write server-side code, create high-volume production applications, and develop prototypes quickly.
Design and build new features into the Squarespace platform, building backend services with Java.
Collaborate with other engineers and designers to provide strong customer-focused experiences.
Ensure the reliability of systems essential to Squarespace users and businesses powered by Squarespace.
Practice disciplined software engineering (e.g. automated testing, code reviews, and writing beautiful, readable code).
Actively contribute to team and company standards.

You’ll work with modern programming languages / frameworks, but will also have to work with integrations to banking legacy systems that still run on mainframe computers and archaic payment schemas. That is always a fun challenge :-)
Your peers are from DigitalOcean, Pivotal, Namely, and JPMorgan. Come join us and power the banking revolution!
Prototype new app and feature ideas and explore new technologies that are at the forefront of mobile technology.
Design and implement new features, create UI, debugging, data modeling.
Collaborate across departments with team members representing product, design, web development, and server-side engineering.
Maintain apps, listen to community and fix issues that arise.
Mentor software engineers at varying levels of experience.
